Arise Attends Business Lunch with Deputy Prime Minister of the UK

Following hot on the heels of the success of the Westminster event in London last week, our EMEA Director of Strategic Sourcing Dickon Moon, who was instrumental in the organisation of the event, was invited at very short notice to attend a business lunch with the UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg on Friday. This was hosted in Dickon’s native Cornwall by two MPs with whom he has built up strong working relationships in the past two years; Dan Rogerson MP and Steve Gilbert MP.

With security tight in the county due to the impending arrival of the Olympic Flame in Cornwall on the same day, the actual venue was not released to attendees until the morning of the lunch itself. This meant that Dickon had to fly down in the early morning ‘blind’ to his final destination. The flight was actually delayed by 90 minutes, but since the DPM was on the same flight as Dickon, he knew he was unlikely to be late! Joining 20 other business leaders at the lunch, Arise was the first company able to ask a question of the DPM, and the only organisation invited to have a photograph taken with him.

Dan Rogerson MP who supports the Arise Virtual Solutions model of bringing work to rural communities appreciates the potential of the Arise model in helping government departments move toward supporting a homeworking agenda. With his influence the DPM asked his Chief of Staff to take Dickon’s business card for a follow up.

So watch this space as Arise continues to heighten its exposure to the upper echelons of political influence on both sides of the Atlantic.
