02 May Outer Hebrides Open Days
With Client Support Professionals across the Highlands & Islands region, it is no wonder Arise values the relationship it has with Highlands & Islands Enterprise highly, and last week these bonds were further enforced when the two organisations ran a series of successful open days across the Outer Hebrides.
Beginning in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis (see photo on the left), Donnie Morrison from HIE and Dickon Moon from Arise worked their way steadily down the various islands over the course of the week to meet over 70 potential CSP’s in 6 separate locations. 8 islands, c260 miles, 2 ferry journeys (see photo 2 below) and 4 flights (including one taking off from a beach – see photo 3, last) saw the intrepid duo accompanied by existing CSP’s Donna Maclennan and Janice Lawson in Stornoway, and a host of local development officers across the other locations.
Local MP Angus MacNeil had encouraged Arise to make the trip, and with the help of HIE the islands have developed a strong reputation for supporting excellent homeworkers for the past 20 years. The strong broadband connections and a shortage of available work locally make the Western Isles a furtive target location for Arise, and the two organisations hope to be able to report that we have added to our number of CSP’s on the islands in the very near future!
